Why Did I Choose Ahuntsic?

My Ideal Montreal Neighborhood
When moving to Montreal, choosing the right neighborhood feels like a real quest. You want to be in the heart of the action, but still be able to sleep in peace. You want greenery, but you don’t want to deal with multiple transfers just to get to the metro. After a long search, I chose Ahuntsic, and I haven’t regretted it for a second.
Logistics: At the Crossroads of Everything
The first and most practical advantage is transportation. Ahuntsic is so perfectly located that you feel mobile in any situation.
The biggest convenience for drivers is the proximity to Highway 15.
- Need to get downtown? You’re there in 15–20 minutes.
- Planning a trip to Laval? Just cross the bridge and you’re there in about 10 minutes.
For those using public transit, the area is just as convenient. It is served by the Orange Line (Henri-Bourassa and Sauvé stations) and an extensive bus network. Additionally, the arrival of the REM has been a huge game-changer, making trips across the city and to the airport even faster and more comfortable.
A True Haven of Peace
Despite its excellent accessibility, Ahuntsic is a true haven of peace. As soon as you turn off the main roads onto the residential streets, the city noise instantly fades away. The atmosphere of “calm life in Montreal” reigns here: low-rise houses usually for single families, mature trees, and quiet courtyards.
You don’t have to worry about opening your windows at night—you’ll hear the rustle of leaves rather than the roar of traffic. It’s a place where the pace of life slows down, which is exactly what you need after a long workday.
Family Comfort
Ahuntsic is rightfully considered one of the most family-oriented neighborhoods in the city. Walking through the streets, you constantly see parents with strollers, kids on bikes, and neighbors chatting about their gardens.
What makes it so appealing?
- Parks: There are many of them. The vast Parc-nature de l’Île-de-la-Visitation on the riverbank is the perfect spot for Sunday strolls.
- Safety: You feel secure here at any time of the day or night.
- Infrastructure: Great schools, libraries, and the charming Fleury Street with its unique local boutiques and cafes.
Why Ahuntsic?
Because it offers that rare combination of practicality and coziness. I don’t have to sacrifice mobility for peace, or safety for a convenient highway exit. It’s a neighborhood that feels like a true home from the very first minute.
